2017 Annual Meeting – Jan 20-21, Saint Louis

We’re excited to bring you another great conference this year! This year’s conference will feature 3 different tracks for Vendors/Producers, Market Managers, and Value-Added Processors. Our unique lineup of conference presenters will include topics such as: special events and programming at farmers’ markets, information on grant funding and insurance resources, product distribution techniques, and information on value-adding and commercial kitchens. Additionally, we’ll have a variety of networking opportunities throughout the weekend and a pre-conference tour of Saint Louis area farms and urban gardens and the SLU Innovation Kitchen.

Our Keynote Speaker, Karyn Moskowitz of New Roots in Louisville, KY will be discussing “Fresh Stop Markets which are “pop up” farm-fresh food markets set up at local churches, housing authorities, and community centers in fresh food insecure neighborhoods” (newroots.org). In this model, food is already paid for allowing lower risk to farmers and increased access to good food for individuals and families who are food insecure. We’re excited to host Karyn and learn how Missouri farmers’ markets and community organizations can collaborate to connect food insecure neighborhoods with locally-raised food.
